2002 Tennis Programs and Events

In 2002, its first year of operation, BCTA boasted 18 registered USA Tennis sites, which brought more than 600 adults and 1,300 juniors into the great sport of tennis. As part of BCTA's cooperative advertising services for these sites, the community tennis association paid for two series of ads in the spring and fall (for a total of eight ads).

Last year the BCTA also hosted a Rock & Rally event during the Fun & Fitness Day at Maple Point Midle School in Langhorne and a USA Tennis Development Coach Workshop with the Princeton Tennis Program in New Jersey. In addition, the BCTA raised approximately $4,000 through various fundraising projects.

One fundraiser--to generate monies to adopt and help restore the tennis court in the formal English garden of Tyler Mansion at the Bucks County Community College in Newtown--afforded area tennis players the rare opportunity to play on grass at three historic Main Line clubs. The BCTA again gratefully acknowledges the generosity of The Philadelphia, Merion, and Germantown Cricket Clubs for opening their private clubs to players who desired to try their game on grass as well as the many participants who donated to these event.

All in all, it was a very good first year. Thanks to everyone who contributed one way or another!
