Spring Means USA League Tennis

USA League Tennis is a program that groups teams by their playing ability and allows for advancement to district, sectional, and national championships. Last year, eleven adult, eight senior, six super senior, and four mixed league teams from USTA/Middle States advanced to play in Hawaii, Palm Springs, Tucson, and Puerto Rico.

And if you needed another reason to enjoy this fun adult competitive league, how about the following?

  • According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 60 percent of adults in the United States are overweight or obese. Regular physical activity offers many health benefits, and tennis is an enjoyable way to get fit.
  • The Cleveland Clinic, ranked No. 1 in America for heart care by U.S. News & World Report since 1994, calls tennis the ideal sport for a healthy heart.
  • A John Hopkins study indicated that men who start playing tennis in their youth (compared to playing golf, football, baseball, or basketball) are likely to continue playing the sport for years, keeping heart disease at bay Fwell into middle age, and having a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease and heart attack compared to those men who didn’t play tennis.
  • Tennis burns more calories than weight lifting, low-impact aerobics, hiking, and riding a stationary bike.
