The physical education program was led by the school district’s long-time PE teacher, who never loses her enthusiasm for and love of teaching. The BCTA was thrilled to provide Scott’s program with curriculum materials and loaner equipment, including portable nets, racquets and transitional balls.

Scott also included a unique “trading card seeded ladder” for students to practice their newly acquired tennis skills via a friendly competitive challenge.

During the spring and fall of this year, Scott—along with fellow PE teacher Mary Bloom—provided tennis in PE classes at Richboro Elementary, Newtown Elementary and Hillcrest, which enabled them to introduce this life-time sport to more than 500 students. Many of these youngsters were bitten by the tennis bug, and enrolled in BCTA’s affordable, quality Learn, Practice & Play programs at various public parks throughout the county as well as Saturday indoor programs now being offered by BCTA at the Newtown Middle School.

Bucks County Tennis Association is pleased to support area physical education teachers who wish to introduce tennis into their elementary and middle school programs by providing age-appropriate curriculum materials and loaner equipment.  For more information, e-mail the nonprofit community tennis association at www.buckscountytennis@verizon.net.
